Wolverhampton BID Launches City Centre Gift Card
28th September 2018

A new Gift Card has been launched by Wolverhampton BID that recipients can spend at over 105 city centre businesses.

With so many places to spend the gift card it makes the perfect present for birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas presents (if you are planning ahead). The card is so versatile, not only can it be spent in a great range of national brands and independent shops it can be spent in a range of pubs, bars, restaurants and entertainment venues too.

The Gift Card works in the same way as all other gift cards, you can buy one online at www.enjoywolverhamptongiftcard.com and load the card to the value you want. The card can be posted direct to you or you can collect the card from 3 strategically located city centre businesses.

City Centre businesses are backing the gift card and with over 105 signed up so far to accept the card in their business, with a promise of more to come. The card not only offers a great present for whoever you give it to, as  they can choose how they spend it to suit them. From handbags, shoes, the latest fashion through to gadgets and homeware the card can be used to treat themselves or for a pamper at one of many hair and beauty salons, to catching a film at the Light House, seeing a show at the Grand theatre to treating themselves to a meal out or a cocktail or two and whilst doing all of this the card also supports our city centre.

You can find the full details of all the 100 plus city centre shops, bars, venues and businesses that accept the Wolverhampton City Centre Gift Card at www.enjoywolverhamptongiftcard.com

The Wolverhampton City Centre Gift Card can be spent on almost anything, anytime, anywhere in the city centre.

Not only does the card offer a great and unique gift, all businesses that are signed up to accept the card in their stores will benefit from the fact that whenever anyone buys this card, the money will stay in Wolverhampton City Centre. With similar schemes elsewhere, there is evidence of additional spend, with cardholders spending more than the card’s value.

Cherry Shine, Director of Wolverhampton BID, said:

“We’re expecting the cards to become a popular birthday present or Christmas present or simply a special way to say thank you for a good turn. We also think they will help take the pain out of Christmas shopping, with such a great range of places that accept the card and with all the signed-up businesses benefitting.”

“The card is available at any sum up to £500 and is so versatile. Customers can use it to buy one special treat in one go or spend it in several visits at different businesses over a number of months.”

In Wolverhampton, there’s an amazing mix of multiples and independent businesses that accept the Gift Card. The multiples include retailers such as Debenhams, Primark, Waterstones, Boots, Marks & Spencer’s, New Look, The Entertainer and T.H. Baker.

Cherry added that national brands supported the scheme from the start   “If people have been given the Wolverhampton Gift Card then they will only spend it in Wolverhampton and like any business they won’t want to lose out on any spend, so they do really see its value”

We see an opportunity for larger city employers to support the city centre with the gift card and will be asking companies to use the Gift Card to honour long-service achievements or reward excellence. What better way for them to show their support for Wolverhampton city centre and their staff?

You can buy the Gift Card online at  – www.enjoywolverhamptongiftcard.com and can choose to have the card sent directly or choose to click and collect the card from The Light House, T. A Henn Jewellers or T.H Baker in the Mander Centre, with the card ready for next day collection.

Window Stickers are clearly displayed in all of the shops and businesses that accept the card.

It can be used like any debit card and users can check the balance on the card at any time on the website, or by scanning the QR code on the back of the card.
