Kind-hearted employees at West Midlands Metro have delivered a welcome boost to a local foodbank.
Over the festive period they donated more than 500 items to the Breaking Bread foodbank in Wednesbury, a short distance from the tram depot.
Carrie-Anne Ashmore, QHSE administrator at the Metro organised the record-breaking collection and explained: “This was the fourth year we’ve supported the organisation, and in the last month we had more donations than ever before.
“Among them were tinned fruit and veg, cooking sauces, pasta, baby food, nappies and toiletries and we even had a selection of new clothes.
“All the items helped those most in need and the foodbank was really grateful for the support of so many people across the network.
“A massive thank you to everyone who made a donation this year.”
The parcels of food and essential items followed an earlier donation of advent calendars to the foodbank which was founded by local churches in 2012 to help families and individuals who find themselves in a crisis.
