Permanent Way & Overhead Line Engineer

Opportunity for an experienced Permanent Way & Overhead Line Engineer to support the companies’ mission to provide a safe, secure, reliable and sustainable tram service, whilst undertaking infrastructure works.

Responsibilities:

  • Project working and design of overhead line installations.
  • Assisting in commissioning of new overhead line systems.
  • Supervision of contractors as and when required
  • Report all work activities and faults to the Rail Services Team Leader.
  • Ensuring inspection and maintenance tasks are being completed in a timely manner and in compliance with the planned maintenance schedule.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork in a timely manner and/or update the Asset Management Information System.
  • Manage and support all maintenance and repairs to the permanent way and overhead line equipment’s.
  • Continuous assessment and improvement of working practices embracing new technologies
  • Comply with health and safety instructions and directives issued by management.
  • Ensure all necessary safety precautions are taken, report all incidents or near misses to your line manager as soon as possible and always within 24 hours.
  • Assisting with the development and continued improvement of the Asset Management Information System.
  • To report immediately any hazard, faulty equipment or health and safety concern to your line manager and ensure action is taken to make the hazard safe i.e., fencing them off, using signs.
  • Night shift work to perform maintenance and repair work as may reasonably be required by MML management.
  • Undertake all other duties required by MML management.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in infrastructure permanent way and overhead line systems.
  • Clean and full UK driving licence
  • Over 10 years’ experience within light rail or rail industry or similar maintenance environment.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of rail or light rail infrastructure permanent way and overhead line systems.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of overhead line equipment, gauges use, track maintenance practices, lifting platform
  • IOSH qualification
  • Management qualification to a minimum of ILM 2 or equivalent
  • Industry qualifications in permanent way and track maintenance
