Our tram network lies at the heart of the region’s exciting public transport integration plans and we’re about to get a whole lot bigger and better.
We’ve developed this special portal to help keep you right up-to-date on where our expansion plans are taking us.
Over the coming years, our network will triple in size, as a massive £1.3 billion investment programme being spearheaded by the West Midlands Combined Authority and Transport for West Midlands is completed. This will allow more and more people to connect with the region’s work, leisure and education opportunities.
Metro will serve over 80 tram stops, more than 20 transport interchanges and link Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Dudley, Brierley Hill, Digbeth, North Solihull, Birmingham Airport, the NEC and HS2.
Creating a Metro for the Future
And we’ll also be adding…
• Up to 50 extra trams
• New control, communications and passenger information systems
• An upgraded depot, control room and maintenance facilities.
It’s an ambitious project which will inevitably introduce new challenges. But it’s also exciting and game-changing.
We’ll be working closely with our partners at Midland Metro Alliance – they’re the people who are turning the plans into reality – to ensure that as they build the new-look Metro, the needs of our customers remain right at the heart of everything we’re doing.
