Welcome to West Midlands Metro… the brand new name for the region’s expanding tram network, operated by Midland Metro Limited (MML).
MML is a new company which, although 100% owned by the West Midlands Combined Authority, functions as a standalone business. It was awarded a 15 year operations and maintenance contract for the Metro system by the WMCA starting on 24 June 2018.
It’s an exciting time for the region as ambitious plans for growth and regeneration begin to be delivered and we look forward to the City of Culture and Commonwealth Games taking place in 2021 and 2022. MML will play an important role in these wider plans and a major expansion programme is set to transform your Metro from a single line to a network that is three times larger, with over 80 stops serving more than 20 transport interchanges and linking Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Dudley, Brierley Hill, Digbeth, North Solihull, Birmingham Airport, the NEC and HS2.
As a key partner working with Transport for West Midlands, we will grow from a business with a £12 million turnover employing 200 staff and carrying 8 million passengers per year to one with over 400 staff, 30 million passengers and a turnover of £50million by 2030.
Amidst so much change we’ll ensure customers remain at the forefront of our plans. Delivering a high quality, dependable and safe service that meets and exceeds your expectations will be central to our ability to increase the use of West Midlands Metro’s services.
