West Midlands Metro will be stepping up services to help customers make the most of the last bank holiday of the summer.

From 8.00am to 7.00pm on Monday, August 27, trams will operate every ten minutes between Birmingham and Wolverhampton, ideal for anyone planning some last minute ‘back to school’ shopping.

Carl Williams, West Midlands Metro Director of Operations, explained: “Traditionally on bank holidays the tram operates to a Sunday timetable, with services every 15 minutes.

“As this will be the last public holiday of what’s been a fantastic summer, we’ll be running additional trams to help people get out and about during the break.

“Whether they a planning a shopping trip, travelling to a special event or just visiting family or friends, by taking the tram, our customers can enjoy a swift and convenient journey that’ll beat the bank holiday traffic.”

Over the weekend, tram customers can also take advantage of a cash-saving travel offer for families and friends travelling as a group. Available from on-board conductors, the popular ‘Fab Five’ Group ticket enables up to five adults, or two adults and up to four children, to travel all day on the network for just a fiver.

Carl added: “Our customers can make even more savings if part of their journey is by car by using our free park and ride facilities at Priestfield, Black Lake, Wednesbury Parkway and The Hawthorns.”
