West Midlands Metro is urging customers to show consideration for others by continuing to wear a face covering, unless exempt under current rules.

Although it will no longer be a legal requirement from Monday (July 19), there is a clear expectation that all passengers should continue to wear a face covering when using any form of public transport.

Steve McAleavy, Metro Managing Director explained: “We believe that wearing face coverings on public transport – particularly busy services – has an important role to play in protecting vulnerable members of the community and our colleagues, and we would ask all tram customers to join in this collective effort.”

“Metro colleagues will continue to wear face coverings and members of the team will be out and about at tram stops and on services relaying this message and handing out masks where needed.”
