A recent review of West Midland Metro ticket prices will see a modest increase to all fares from next month as the network continues to invest in enhancing services for customers.
Following a price freeze in 2023, and a below-inflation increase in 2024, most fares will increase by between 10 – 30p from April 7, 2025.
Michael Reading-Skilton, Metro’s Head of Commercial, explained: “We remain committed to delivering the best possible value for our customers. We have looked to balance how we can continue to invest in the network whilst ensuring that the increase is fair for our customers.
“The tram remains one of the most affordable and environmentally friendly ways to travel across the region, offering significant savings compared to buses or trains for many journeys.
“In many cases, the tram is also a faster and more convenient way to travel, as reflected in recent customer satisfaction survey results.
“Overall, our average fare increase of 3.2 per cent is lower than those announced by other transport operators in the region. Metro customers can continue to save by taking advantage of a variety of multi-day, weekly, and monthly passes, which offer added convenience and flexibility.”
As part of the review, a Zone 1-4 single ticket will increase by 10p to £4.80 and a Zone 1–4-day ticket by 20p to £6.90. While a weekly pass will rise from £25.30 to £26.10.
Michael added: “As we prepare for the opening of new extensions, customers can look forward to further improvements across the network, and they can rest assured we will continue striving to deliver a safe, reliable and sustainable service that offers unrivalled value for money.”
