From today (Monday, August 10) it’s easier than ever to plan ahead when travelling on West Midlands Metro thanks to enhancements to the network’s popular mobile app.

As an increasing number of people return to public transport with the easing of coronavirus restrictions, they can now use the My Metro app to make a more informed decision on when to time their journeys.

Carl Williams, West Midlands Metro Director of Operations, explained: “Maintaining a safe social distance wherever possible remains vitally important to prevent a resurgence in Covid-19 cases, and the app’s new features will help customers identify quieter times to travel.”

“The upgrade also enables customers to help us to help them by letting the us know when they intend to use the tram. In turn, this assists us to plan and boost efforts to deliver the best possible service.”

Featuring an easy to understand ‘heat map’ – which uses a green, amber and red indicator to help customers avoid busy periods – the app can be downloaded from the App store and Google Play.
