Bus service in operation during tram upgrade works

West Midlands Metro tram at tram stop

Essential work to upgrade existing tram infrastructure will see a temporary suspension of services across West Midlands Metro this weekend.

The last trams will run between Wolverhampton St. George’s and the Library at Centenary Square at around 20.30 on Saturday, February 20, with a normal service set to resume on Monday morning (February 22) when the first tram leaves Wednesbury Parkway at 04.28.

Ray Harris, Metro Head of Operations, explained: “The work is essential to our plans to maintain reliability. We always try to minimise any disruption while such work is carried out and apologise for any inconvenience. However, by suspending all services on the quietest day of the week, the work can be carried out more quickly.

“To ensure our customers can still get around, Metro tickets or passes can be used on some alternative modes of transport, and a dedicated replacement bus service will be in operation all day on Sunday.”

Running up to every 15 minutes, the replacement bus services will service key Metro stops, and you can find further details on the Metro website at https://westmidlandsmetro.com/using-the-metro/service-status/
